Well, even though I have not made progress on some of the “major projects” I had going on for the past week, I have been getting writing done, which is more than I could say for most of this month.
As I admitted to everyone in this space, the end of Game Of Thrones has thrown me for a loop, and made me think about trying to do some fantasy writing myself. I’ve actually thrown myself into doing some goof-off project, a speculative epilogue to the GOT TV series.
I’m now up to more than 8,000 words on the project. What the deuce.
I’m planning on completing this weirdness this week, and posting it here on the site. Once I get that sorted out, I’m going to post my thoughts on GOT, because I’ve raved on about it so much. I am hoping to do that this mid-week, and I actually might be able to do this on time this week because I am now officially off work for the summer for the entire week and extending into the immediate future.
I’ll hold off on detailing the projects that I’ve been working on, since I’ve been repeating myself a little bit and there isn’t really any news on those for now. I was almost tempted to put these into a different post, but I think the projects I am working on are as important as the amount of work I’m doing, so that has to remain in the writing journal for now.
Speaking of the journal, here’s the raw numbers for last week:
+9,540 words written.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days planning/revising: 0 of 7 for 0 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of revisions): 6 of 7 days.
So, while not the most productive week I have ever had, it was certainly the best week of this last month, and certainly a week I would find acceptable most any time of the year. My ultimate goal for each week, obviously, is to meet my daily writing goals every day during the week. Obviously, that can be hard, because not every day is easy to carve out some time behind the computer. However, I think that if you can try and shoot for that goal, your overall productivity can improve, and the more that you are writing, the more chances that you have to improve as a writer.
OK, that’s what I had to talk about tonight. With the rest of the evening, I plan to get some more work done on this “fan fic” (more like mental therapy), plan out some posts for the Facebook and Twitter pages, and make some general life plans for the week. See you around.
