OK, welcome to the new project!

My name is Jason Liegois. For the past few years, I have been making an effort to finally get going on a lifelong passion – my interest in fiction writing. Although I have been interested in being a writer ever since I was a teenager, it’s only been in the past several years that I have had the mental discipline to produce fiction writing on anything close to a consistent basis.

In the years since I was a teenager, I have been busy. I have been a published writer, but of journalism and not fiction. A few of those articles you can find online; others are probably sitting unread in some Iowa library. Within the past 10 years, I’ve also begun a teaching career that’s run from middle school and junior college language arts to high school special education.

So, in the spirit of increasing my writing output, and eventually promoting my own writing, I decided to start a specific writing blog. I’ll be posting my thoughts on writing, as well as my own work, on a weekly basis. Exactly what shape that will take will likely coalesce and take shape over the next several months or so.

I’ll also continue keeping active on my Facebook page for writing, also called Liegois Media. That was originally set up as a page for my journalism career, but with my reentry into teaching I decided to rebrand it as my writing interest page. That’s where I’ll be posting interesting articles, photos, quotes and memes on writing. I do that on a daily basis. You can check out that feed in the sidebar (or on the bottom of the page if you’re reading this on mobile).

Here is where you will be seeing more exclusive content (that is, Liegois-created stuff) centered on writing, my work, and the writing craft. I recently found out that one of my writing idols, Douglas Adams, shared my longtime problem with procrastination. However, I think I can commit to doing at least one longer blog post per week.

I look forward to the adventure and sharing my journey in writing.
