Writing Journal, 16 August 2023: Not much to write about as I go back to work

Hello. Today I officially go back to work for the 2023-2024 school year. As I mentioned, it will be all special education this year, so I’m looking forward to working with those kids again and I’m hopefully optimistic about the year to come. Besides, we’ll have about a week’s worth of in-service to work into the year, which is always nice.

Writing productivity dropped this week. It may be a function of getting ready to be off vacation, or it might be the recent struggles I mentioned in the weekly newsletter on Saturday. At least in the latter case, I’ve started to write new material on the book, even if the words are coming slowly.

Anyway, here’s the numbers.

Writing statistics for the week ending 12 August 2023:
3,886 words written.
Days writing: 5 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 0 of 7 for 0 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 5 of 7 days

That’s it for now. The trip back to Muscatine went great. Again, those of you still on summer break, I hope your upcoming school years go well, all things considered. Take care.
