Writing Journal, 23 August 2023: Going back to school has kicked my butt

Just like it says in the title. Today is officially the first day we have kids in the classrooms. I would not say I have absolutely everything in place, but I have faith enough in myself and my coworkers we will get there.

Productivity dropped like a stone this week with me starting in-service last week. In some of the years past, I’d always have a drop in my writing productivity in May and June, which made no sense to me since that was the start of my break. However, as I readjust to having a smaller amount of time to work with and more of a demand on my energy, it makes perfect sense I would see a productivity drop. I am sure I will eventually get productivity up, if not this week then soon.

Here’s the numbers.

Writing statistics for the week ending 19 August 2023:
1,894 words written.
Days writing: 5 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 2 of 7 for 60 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 3 of 7 days.

Yep, nothing to write home about. But, I’ll write about it here, and hopefully have better numbers next week. Take care.
