Writing Journal, 4 October 2023: Anniversary numbers

No, it’s not the site’s anniversary, it’s mine – Laura and I are celebrating 26 years together. That’s going to involve something quiet, perhaps dinner out, but it will be low-key, especially since it’s midweek. We may be doing our celebrating on the weekend.

This week ended up being a perfect reflection of the previous week, give or take a couple of hundred words. I’d love to see even more productivity, but when I meet my writing quota six out of seven days and get 4,500-plus words, that is a week I won’t necessarily brag about but I definitely won’t insult it. This past week’s work was a mix of The Yank Striker 2, some fan fiction, and quite a bit of work on the blogs.

Anyway, here’s the stats for both last week and last month.

Writing statistics for the week ending 30 September 2023:
4,799 words written.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 0 of 7 for 0 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 6 of 7 days.

So, last month was my third lowest in word count, but I did much better in keeping to a consistent writing schedule and meeting my writing quota on most days. Even more important, however, is that I am getting closer to meeting my writing goals for the year – at least 200,000 words written and meeting my daily quota 75 percent of the time. As of the end of September, I’m more than 20,000 words above the pace to make 200,000 and my current percentage of daily writing quota met is 89 percent. I might end up having an early celebration if I keep this up.

That’s it for now. See you deeper in October.
