EDIT: I posted this a couple of days early. My mistake. Enjoy.
Not much to say this week.
I wouldn’t say I was very productive from a pure numbers standpoint, but I was keeping busy with the new project, The Yank Striker 2. Except for my blog posts, I honestly wasn’t busy with anything else last week.
As I mentioned a couple days ago, the advice I got from some of my writing group is when I am trying to concentrate carefully on where I want a story to go and consider what comes next in the plot, it takes time for me to figure out where the words go. Sometimes when I’m working on multiple projects, I can just pick and choose what to work on and the work comes faster since I just worry about writing the stuff I want to write about.
When I concentrate on one thing, however, it takes a while to see where I’m going, even with this story that’s part of a series whose major beats I’ve had mapped out in my head for a while. However, it’s like following a military campaign and knowing where and when the battles are going to take place, but not what exactly happens in the battles. The more I think about it, the more I believe I underestimated the amount of planning I did last week. Well, I’d rather underestimate something I did rather than inflate numbers.
I’m pretty sure next year my word count numbers are probably going to be lower than they will be this year. However, that’s all right. I think I am going to be doing more revisions on my rough draft on The Yank Striker 2 next year for sure.
Another issue is I’m reading some projects for people and I am planning on going to post a book review on one of those items as early as this weekend. Keep watching this space.
Anyway, here’s the stats for last week.
Writing statistics for the week ending 14 October 2023:
2,775 words written.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 1 of 7 for 60 total minutes.
Daily Wwriting Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 4 of 7 days
