Ugh is all I can say.
It might have been the least productive week of the year. I could say it had to do with the holidays, the travel, the fact my mother-in-law broke her leg on Christmas and threw the family into a bit of crisis mode, but none of those are really acceptable reasons – maybe explanations at best. The fact was, I just didn’t have the motivation this past week to get much writing done.
Although I had the longest blank streak of my year (five days, which extended into this week until now), I actually did get some amount of writing done. Here’s the stats:
Writing statistics for the week ending 16 December 2023:
1,817 words written.
Days writing: 5 out of 7.
Days revising/planning 0 out of 0 for 0 minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met: out of 7 days.
Again, higher numbers but more inconsistency. The good news is that as of the end of last week, I have written 213,066 words for 2023, a little more than 1,000 words below my all-time personal best of 214,385, which I set last year.
One poor week would notch me the record. I think I have a very good chance at meeting the 215,000-word mark, but 220,000 may be a bridge too far at this point considering the streak I’m on.
My current thought is this: I was going back and forth regarding whether to post here and on Substack this weekend. I think I’m currently leaning toward posting, because I want to have something to work on if I’m balking at my other projects. I think it will be a two-parter regarding goals for next year and some of the current issues at Substack.
Until next time.
