Last week I was trying to get caught back up with writing. I’ve been trying to reduce the distractions in my writing area.
I have to agree with a number of educators cell phones can be way too much of a distraction. In recent days I’ve taken to leaving it in another room. I’m also recording my daily word counts on a written notepad rather than my phone, so I think it will be an advantage. Hopefully, I’ll have clearer results by next week.
As for this week, the stats are:
Writing statistics for the week ending 20 July 2024 (Happy Moon landing anniversary):
4,245 words written.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 1 of 7 for 60 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 5 of 7 days.
By itself, these are certainly not bad numbers, but they are not exactly what I want to settle on for a week to week basis. It would be massive if I averaged 5,000 words a week, and I have to think I could manage that even if I wasn’t on vacation.
All I know is the past two years have been the most productive writing time of my entire writing life. I want to keep it up. I know I can keep it up. Now I just have to do it.
Writers keep writing and everyone keep safe.
