Hello, there.
My consistency this week was more than a little lacking, I have to say. However, my productivity was at a good pace for what I’m trying to achieve, and looking back at my numbers for the entire month I’m feeling good about the amount of work I’ve been doing.
The numbers for last week:
Writing statistics for the week ending 1 February 2025:
Words: 4,778
Days writing: 5 of 7.
Days revising or planning: 0 of 7 for 0 minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 4 of 7 days.
And for the month of January:
Writing statistics for January 2025:
Words: 24,528
Revise/Plan: 150 minutes
DWGM: 81 percent.
As of right now, I am hoping to meet my productivity goals for this year: At least 200,000 words for the year minimum, with an effort to get to 225,000, which would be a new personal record for me. In addition, I want to meet my minimum daily quotas (500 words per day or 30 minutes of revisions and planning) at least 80 percent of the time.
For perspective:
Writing Levels:
500 words per day > 3,500 words per week > estimated 15,208 words per month > 182,500 words per year. I’ve gotten to this number at least 5 out of the past 6 years.
Estimated 548 words per day > 3,846 words per week > estimated 16,667 words per > 200,000 words per year. I’ve gotten to at least this 4 out of the past 6 years.
616 words per day > 4,327 words per week > 18,750 words per month > 225,000 words per year. I have only managed 220,000 words last year.
So, this is the kind of writing productivity I’m facing at this point. From the January numbers, it looks like I’m well above pace so far, but I am not taking much more than a short victory lap upon the event.
I’ve penciled in the start of revisions for The Yank Striker 2 beginning on 8 February 2025 (this Saturday), so I am sure I’m going to be logging in a lot more revising time in the months to come. Again, there will be two novel-length works in progress in different stages of development as well as my blogs and poetry. Should have plenty to do.
All you writers keep writing and the rest of you stay safe.
