Writing Journal 19 February 2025: Revising distracts me from writing new stuff

Welcome to everyone.

I got started on revising The Yank Striker 2 last week, and I probably spent more time revising work last week than I have for the entire year to date (only six or seven weeks, but still). Still, the week wasn’t that disastrous as far as productivity goes.

The numbers for last week:

I need to make sure I’m bring productive on my other projects that I am drafting just as well as the revisions, but I want to ensure I get the second draft of The Yank Striker 2 wrapped up by the end of this month so I can start passing it off to beta readers. (By the way, if you are interested in being a beta reader for The Yank Striker 2, hit me up in the comments or at jasonliegois@liegois.media.)

I’ll hold off on mentioning my productivity goals for the year in each and every one of these writing journals, but I’ll likely mention them during the month-end ones. I’m still keeping them in mind. Right now, I’m thinking I need to do more to plan specific times to write and to revise rather than just setting aside time generally and hoping it all works out in the end.

This will be a pretty tight week for me to write. I have to come up with a few new poems for Poetry Night this weekend, and I’ll be on the road for most of Saturday to Johnston, Iowa, for the Johnston Public Library’s Book Fair from 2-4 p.m. that day. If you can make it, I hope to see you there.

All you writers keep writing and the rest of you stay safe.
