It’s interesting how much of my writing has been two steps forward and a step back. Or the other way around if I’m on a cold streak.
Everyone, I have been writing, this is not in dispute. However, much of it has been the dreaded fanfiction I wrote about recently. It’s strange – I’m not writing on something that’s totally my project, but I am exercising my creativity and my writing skills. So, it’s like I’m working out to work out, not for a big match or contest.
Sometimes I think I’m just in a rut generally. I wonder if I’m going a little bit stir crazy since my wife and I are essentially in a long-distance relationship. At least we text all the time.
Before this blog, I would just suffer in silence. However, since I’ve created it, I can see when I’m in a rut in real time rather than retrospectively over the course of several years. One of the hopes of that is that I don’t stop writing and being productive. I’m at least writing something. I’m trying to quantify what I’m doing. And, I’m continuing to move forward.
One thing – if you can’t accomplish several long-term goals all at once, try and get one short term goal done. I finally reached out to some writing friends to ask about proofreaders (For Project A, in case you were curious). I’ve got maybe three strong leads out of it. And I’ll be contacting them this week to see what prices, etc., might be.
So I’ve got that working for me, which is nice.
Speaking of something working for me, the numbers for last week:
+10,970 words written.
Days writing: 7 of 7.
Days revising/planning: 0 of 7 for 0 total minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 7 of 7 days.
Pretty good, even if I’m not training or writing for anything in particular.
I’ll catch up later.
[EDIT #1: The featured photo is another one of my bookshelves. Shout out if you recognize any/see your favorites. One of the books is one of my most recent purchases. ]
[EDIT #2: You know what can pick up your mood right away? Household chores. Do like four things around the house one after the other and my mood picks up right away. That may be because I’m accomplishing something of definitive value.]
[EDIT #3: This might have gotten a little more personal than normal, but that’s okay every so often.]
