I wanted to have a spectacularly productive week, but I ended up with a slightly better than average week thanks to a Saturday where I couldn’t get started in front of the computer. Despite that, I think I made clear progress.
Writing statistics for the week ending 23 November 2024:
Words: 4,104.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days revising or planning: 0 of 7 for 0 minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 6 of 7 days.
2024 goals update:
- At least 200,000 words written for the 2024 calendar year. Bonus points if I made it past the all-time personal record of 215,152 words I set last year.
As of 23 November 2024, I have written 196,491 words for the year 2024. That would leave 3,509 words to get to my 2024 minimum. At my recent pace recently, the 200,000 mark should be reached by Thanksgiving or the end of this week at least.
To match last year’s record, I’m going to have to write a little less than 500 words per day for the remainder of the year. - Meeting my daily writing goals (at least 500 words written or 30 minutes spent revising or planning new work) at least 75 percent of the year.
All but complete. - (Recently added) complete my rough draft of The Yank Striker 2 (second in The Yank Striker series), which should be approximately 75,000 words, by the end of the calendar year.
As of this writing, I’m over 65,000 words on the rough draft. I will need to average less than 270 words per day on this project from now until the end of the year. This is somewhat difficult, but not impossible.
34 days left in the year as of today. The first part of this year was such a slog, but the second half has just flown by.
Take care, everyone.
One More Thing
I usually don’t use the writing journals for this thing, but I thought a little self-promotion might be helpful.

I’m going to be participating in my first authors event late this week in Fort Madison, Iowa, my new hometown. The Fort Madison Area Art Association is sponsoring a Meet the Author Book Signing event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 30, at the FMAAA’s center at 825 Avenue G, Fort Madison. I’ll be there to sign and sell copies of my books The Holy Fool and The Yank Striker. Hope to see you there.
