I have had an up and down record with vacation writing this year, so I was gratified to review what I’ve done and feel satisfied with Thanksgiving week.
Writing statistics for the week ending 30 November 2024:
Words: 5,721.
Days writing: 6 of 7.
Days revising or planning: 0 of 7 for 0 minutes.
Daily Writing Goals Met (500+ words or 30 minutes of planning/revisions): 6 of 7 days.
Writing statistics for November 2024:
Words: 18,539
Revising/Planning: 150 minutes.
DWGM: 90 percent.
2024 goals update:
- At least 200,000 words written for the 2024 calendar year. Bonus points if I made it past the all-time personal record of 215,152 words I set last year.
As of the end of November 2024, I have written 202,212 words for the year 2024, meeting my minimum quota. I had hoped to reach it by Thanksgiving Day, but it actually happened on Black Friday.
I am 12,940 words away from matching my personal best record of last year. I only have to write about 417 words per day for the rest of the year to match it. Considering I’ve exceeded 12,940 words a month in all but two months this year, another personal best record appears in sight. - Meeting my daily writing goals (at least 500 words written or 30 minutes spent revising or planning new work) at least 75 percent of the year.
Complete. I could meet none of my daily goals this month (highly unlikely) and still hit 75 percent. - (Recently added) complete my rough draft of The Yank Striker 2 (second in The Yank Striker series), which should be approximately 75,000 words, by the end of the calendar year.
As of this writing, I’m now at 66,160 words on the rough draft. I will need to average about 285 words per day on this project from now until the end of the year. This is somewhat difficult, but not impossible. I am also wondering whether I will have to add some more to the text later.
One month left in 2024. When I was tooling around the state between moving and work and my kid being in the hospital 10-11 months ago, it seemed like the year would never end, but this past six months in particular has flown by. Finally being settled into my new home has helped with this, I think.
All you writers keep writing and everyone keep safe.
